2. Cloud Infrastructure Visualisations

AWS Cloud

Gain a clear and detailed preview of your database’s structure, performance, and functionality after migrating to the cloud. Understand how data organisation, security, scalability, and access will be optimised in a cloud environment, ensuring a seamless transition with minimal disruption.

Unlock the potential of the cloud with a complimentary Cloud Viability Assessment.

This complimentary programme enables both new and existing cloud customers to evaluate and optimise their on-premises and cloud environments, reduce the number of required instances, and enhance resource efficiency. With a CVA, you can analyse actual resource usage, third-party licensing, and application dependencies. The insights gathered will support informed decision-making for your cloud journey.

 FAQs

How much does a CVA cost?

The Cloud Viability Assessment (CVA) is funded by AWS, so it is complimenrary to your organisation.

Is a Cloud Viability Assessment (CVA) the same as an Optimisation and Licensing Assessment (OLA)?

They are slightly different. A CVA evaluates whether migrating to the cloud is the right choice for your business, considering costs, performance, and feasibility. An OLA focuses on optimising your cloud usage and licensing to ensure cost efficiency and compliance after migration.

How do you conduct the assessment?

When you request a CVA, we start by getting in touch to understand a bit more about your IT environment. After initial discovery workshops, we work with our partner Ingram Micro to install the Migration Evaluator onto your network (learn more about the software here, and AWS Compliance Programmes to maintain security and compliance here). This will collect data on the reliability, availability, performance and cost in your current IT environment. We use this information to identify opportunities for optimisation in AWS. From there, we can calculate the ROI of migrating your IT estate to the cloud and design visualisations of your AWS infrastructure. We will then deliver these results to you. The process takes about 4 weeks on average.

Which cloud infrastructure platform is this for?

Our CVA is specifically designed for Amazon Web Services (AWS), as they are the leading IaaS platform in the market. We assess your existing IT environment to determine the benefits of migrating to AWS.

What is the output from a CVA?

The CVA provides a detailed report outlining:

  • Cloud readiness and feasibility
  • ROI calculation
  • Cost comparison between on-premises and AWS infrastructure
  • Performance and security considerations
  • Migration recommendations and next steps
How is my data managed and secured?

Data security is a top priority. The CVA process follows industry best practices, ensuring your data is handled securely and remains confidential. During the CVA, your data will be collected by the AWS Migration Calculator (for more information, click here). The collected data is stored in a locally encrypted database, re-encrypted with a customer-specific certificate, and securely sent via HTTPS to an encrypted Amazon S3 bucket managed by Migration Evaluator. Any additional uploaded files are also stored in an encrypted S3 bucket. All S3 buckets use AES-256 Server-Side Encryption with AWS Key Management Service (SSE-KMS). How long does it take?

The duration of a CVA depends on the complexity of your IT environment. On average, it takes four weeks to complete, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
